3Shape Trios Digital Scanner

iTero 3D Digital Scanner

iTero intraoral scanners offer an alternative to traditional dental impressions. Using a hand-held wand that optically scans the area of interest to create a digital 3D model, you won’t have to undergo the unpleasant taste of impression material, the excessive salivation while the impression is taken, and it reduces of the anxiety that is associated with gagging. The scan aids with many areas of our practice, including fabrication of night guards, crowns, veneers, surgical guides, and other dental appliances. It even scientifically measures the shade of your teeth for a perfect match dental restoration!

By creating an impression that is 100 percent digital, the impression may be transmitted securely and electronically to a remote dental laboratory facility, which precisely mills the dental appliance or models. Using this patented 3-D digital technology enables us and the dental laboratory, to create dental models and appliances with unmatched precision and accuracy which reduces your time in the dental chair and creates a superior fit for the dental appliance.

Doctor using a high power microscope

High Power Microscope

Our practice uses a high power microscope to enhance the precision of patient care.

Dentistry is micro-surgery. Our success depends on us being able to see the minutest of details – you cannot treat what you cannot see. Using a microscope that is similar to the one an ophthalmologist uses enables us to perform root canal therapy, tissue grafts, and create dental restorations with incredibly precise fit and finish. You just can’t fulfill that level of care with the naked eye.

In addition to allowing precise, close-up work, the microscope directs a beam of light directly on the teeth, minimizing glare for you.

DentalVibe – Painless Injections

DentalVibe® is a patented, award winning multipurpose instrument designed to block the pain of intra-oral injections. It is a hand held device that delivers soothing, pulsed, percussive micro-oscillations, to “shake up” the site where an injection is being given, distracting a patient from feeling pain. Research shows that when vibration is simultaneously applied as a counter-stimulation to an anesthetic injection, its sensation reaches the brain first, blocking the feeling of pain. KaVo OP 3D CT Machine

KaVo OP 3D CT Machine

The KaVo OP 3D system gives our oral and maxillofacial practice state-of-the-art technology to help Drs. Irene and Erez diagnose potential issues more accurately and provide treatment with unprecedented confidence. Unlike a traditional spiral CT scanner, this 3D system utilizes cone beam CT technology and provides precise, crystal-clear digital images while minimizing your exposure to radiation. Our new 3D system enables us to perform a wider range of diagnoses and treatments in our office, helping to reduce multiple visits. The KaVo OP 3D scanner allows us to choose the field of view, or scanning area, that best suits your specific treatment needs. This helps to limit your radiation exposure because we are focusing specifically on your area of concern. The KaVo OP 3D system brings the latest 3D technology to La Jolla Dental Boutique, providing unmatched visualization of anatomical detail which aids in treatment planning and helps us to better explain the particulars of your case, as well as address any questions you may have. Drs. Irene and Erez can use this innovative technology to quickly and easily share 3D images of the area of concern with your referring doctor – allowing the doctors to collaborate on your care, improving your experience, and delivering a positive treatment outcome.

Doctor using an intraoral camera

Intraoral Camera

Drs. Irene and Erez utilize Intraoral Camera technology that helps with diagnosis as well as patient education. An Intraoral Camera is a very small camera that allows our practice to view clear, precise images of your mouth, teeth and gums, in order for us to accurately make a diagnosis. With clear, defined, enlarged images, you see details that may be missed by standard mirror examinations. This can mean faster diagnosis with less chair-time for you!

Intraoral cameras also enable our practice to save your images in our office computer to monitor changes in your teeth, to share our findings with you, and to provide a permanent record of treatments. These images can be printed for you, other specialists, and your lab or insurance companies.

Digital Imaging

At La Jolla Dental Boutique, we carefully choose which and when radiographs are taken. There are many guidelines that we follow. Radiographs allow us to see everything we cannot see with our own eyes. Radiographs enable us to detect cavities in between your teeth, determine bone level, and analyze the health of your bone. We can also examine the roots and nerves of teeth, diagnose lesions such as cysts or tumors, as well as assess damage when trauma occurs.

Dental radiographs are invaluable aids in diagnosing, treating, and maintaining dental health. Exposure time for dental radiographs is extremely minimal and with digital imaging, exposure time is about 90 percent less when compared to traditional radiographs.

Digital imaging allows us to store patient images, and enables us to quickly and easily compare new images to old ones to see change and transfer them to other specialists or insurance companies.

Soft tissue diode laser

Soft Tissue Diode Laser

The Laser delivers energy in the form of light. Depending on the intended result, this energy travels at different wavelengths and is absorbed by a “target.” In dentistry, these targets can be enamel, decay, gum tissue, or whitening enhancers. Each one absorbs a different wavelength of light while reflecting others. For soft tissue (surgical) procedures it eliminates the need for suturing and healing is much faster.

Areas of dental care that benefit from laser technology:

  • Periodontal or gum related care
  • Apthous Ulcer (canker sore) treatment
  • Frenectomy (tongue-tie release) without anesthesia or sutures
  • Crown lengthening, gingivectomy and other gum corrections
  • Implant uncovering
DIAGNOdent laser cavity screening machine

DIAGNOdent Laser Cavity Screening

DIAGNOdent is a revolutionary way to find even the smallest areas of tooth decay. DIAGNOdent uses a precise laser scanning system to scan your teeth while sending out an audio signal and registering a digital read-out. The scan only takes a few seconds per tooth and by measuring the fluorescence within each tooth’s structure, your dentist can identify where cavities may be developing in the small grooves on your teeth.

Not all cavities are noticeable without the help of the advanced DIAGNOdent laser screening. With the widespread use of fluoride, many of these cavities never make it to the tooth’s surface, and instead begin eating away at the tooth from the inside out. The DIAGNOdent laser helps locate these small areas of decay.

Most tooth decay begins in the tiny cracks and grooves on the surface of your teeth. By the time the cavities are noticed, it’s often because there is a much larger problem, and the cavity itself was never seen or felt by the patient.

By using the advanced DIAGNOdent technology, we are able to treat small cavities before they become larger issues that require multiple costly procedures.

High precision vision magnification loupes

Dental Loupes

When dealing with cavities averaging only millimeters in size, in tight quarters like the mouth, precise visualization of all elements of the mouth are critical to high quality dental care. Our doctors use high precision vision magnification loupes with a focal light during all treatment and exams to both ensure that nothing is missed and that only the diseased tooth structure that is necessary, is removed. This ensures that dental treatment is performed with the utmost accuracy. It is not difficult to imagine that by increasing accuracy in dental care, you can expect better long term results and less disruption to your life.

Digital dental chart

Digital Charts

La Jolla Dental Boutique is proud to be a paperless office! By being paperless, we are not only helping the environment, but we are providing you with better care. With digital charts we are now a click away from instant access to all of your medical history, conditions, diagnoses, treatment, notes, photos, x-rays, charges and payments, correspondence, and much more! With a digital record your information is safe for years to come and provides us with a simple, legible and detailed overview of the past, present, and future so that we always know your full story and treat you accordingly. Our system even alerts us right away if you have any allergies, require any medications or have other medical needs so that we can make sure you are always being treated in the safest way possible! All paper documents that we receive get scanned into your digital chart and the paper gets shredded and recycled.

Warm water tool

Warm Water in Dental Units

Always keeping your comfort in mind, Drs. Irene & Erez Nosrati know that the cold water used during dental procedures can be very uncomfortable for people with sensitive teeth. To help with that, our dental units are equipped with special water heaters that warm the water that is used during procedures, eliminating the sensitivity and discomfort associated with cold water.

Cavity in a patient's mouth

Caries Indicator

Removing cavities is a delicate art and a precise science. Detecting diseased tooth structure with human eyes and human touch alone is not always accurate, and can unintentionally leave bacteria and decay under your brand new fillings and crowns. At our office, our doctors don’t want to risk leaving diseased tooth structure behind and therefore use the aid of an indicating colored rinse that detects diseased tooth structure to ensure your tooth is healthy for years to come.

Electric handpiece being used on a patient

Electric Handpieces

Many dentists use air-driven “hand-pieces” (the dental term for “drills”). While acceptable for many procedures, these “whiny sounding” air-powered hand pieces all have a degree of non-concentricity; they do not rotate perfectly smoothly.

For the most precise aspects of restorative procedures, we use electric hand-pieces. This results in extraordinarily precise interfaces between your tooth and your new restoration (dental crown, tooth veneer, or tooth filling). This will bring more comfort to you as well. With a more precise tool, there is less vibration and less noise.

Automatic external defibrillator (AED)

Automatic External Defibrillator (AED)

At La Jolla Dental Boutique, we invest in your safety as it is our priority. Our office is equipped with an automated external defibrillator (AED) for any emergencies we may face. An AED is a portable electronic device that automatically diagnoses the life-threatening cardiac arrhythmias and is able to treat them through defibrillation, the application of electricity which stops the arrhythmia, allowing the heart to reestablish an effective rhythm.
